Fish cutlet is one of the most popular snack that you can make using fish (real fish or tin fish like tuna), meat, or vegetable like baby jack fruits (polos)



These Sri Lankan style fish cutlets can serve with tomato ketchup or chilli sauce when you take it for your tea break or you can have it as a side dish with rice and curry too.


Sri Lankan Fish cutlets are made using spicy fish and boiled mashed potato filling and coated with a crispy and golden breadcrumb coating.
Today  we are going to show you Step by step instructions to make these Sri Lankan fish cutlets. 


So  today, I am going to show you how to make the best Sri Lankan style fish cutlet with tuna, canned fish/tin fish.


Ingredients: 150 deep-fried fish cutlets



2 can of Salmon or Jack mackerel 
1kgs of big onion finely chopped
150g green chillies finely chopped
5 kgs potatoes
2 bottle frying oil
15-20 curry leaves
4 eggs
1/2 kg bread crumbs
salt and pepper to taste
Crushed ginger 
Crushed garlic
Cinnamon sticks


Ok , it's time to start
 Let’s see how to prepare the best Sri Lankan style fish cutlet recipe at home.


Instructions:

Clean the potatoes and boil until they are tender. Remove the skin of potatoes. 
And crush the potatoes using a spoon or fork and set aside.
 Open fish can and drain the water and remove skin and bone. Crush the fish into small pieces.


In a saucepan, add potatoes, fish, pepper and salt mix it through the fish until well combined and  Set the fish mixture  aside and let it cool.


Now it's time to fry chopped garlic, ginger onion and chillies.


Heat the 3 tbsp of and add the onion, ginger and garlic, chillies, curry leaves, and cinnamon  and saute until the onions become tender and translucent.


Add the potatoes and fish mixture, saute   while mixing the spices through the potatoes for about 10-15 minutes. Let's be cool.


When it is  cooled, take some of the mix and roll it into a smooth 1 1/2 inch diameter ball. 
Leave these balls aside on a tray.


InTake a small bowl put egg white of 3 eggs and on a separate plate, take the bread crumbs. 
Now evenly coat each fish ball with the egg white mix and then coat them with the bread crumbs. 


Heat enough oil to deep fry the cutlets.
When the oil is hot, fry the cutlets until they turn a dark golden brown.


Place the fried cutlets on a paper towel or in a drain to drain the excess oil.
These cutlets have the perfect crunch while they are still hot.


Serve with tomato sauce or chilli sauce as a snack. Or as a side dish for a rice and curry meal.
