Protean packed Mung bean curry is one of my favourite dhal curry, instead of having non vegetarian recipe more often we can replace it with mung beans or mung at a curry.

Mung Beans Curry from Sri Lanka (Mun eta Curry) by ape rasa


As it is protean packed vegetable its more popular among the vegetarians. So, if you look for protein dishes witch are vegetarian, then try this mung beans curry which is from Ape Rasa team Cuisines.

Ingredients : Mung Beans Curry

500g of mung beans

1 cup of coconut milk

1 onion sliced

3-4 Garlic chopped

3-4 green  chilies chopped

1 tsp raw curry powder

¼ tsp turmeric powder

Pandan leaves & curry leaves

1 inch piece of cinnamon

Salt to taste

Here are the steps to follow to make mung beans curry with coconut milk.

Add water into mung beans and soak for about 12 hours

After soaking, wash mung beans, drain water and add to the cooking pot.

Boil mung beans with little water until cook halfway through.

Now add 1/2 cup of coconut milk, onion, Garlic, green  chilies, curry powder, turmeric powder, piece of cinnamon, Pandan leaves & curry leaves, Cover the pot and cook until mung beans are cooked well.

At this stage add rest of the coconut milk and adjust salt as per taste.

After 2-3 minutes when coconut milk starts boiling, remove the curry from the stove. If you like to have it dry curry, cook another few more minutes until the liquid disappears.

You can taste Mung Beans curry with rice and other sides such as roti and bread ect...
